Joining the elite group of Teenage Captains of Crush, 19-year old Hamza Acar (Turkey) has been certified on the Captains of Crush (CoC) No. 3 gripper.
Hamza told IronMind, “I started working with heavy adjustable grippers for the first time about three years ago. A few months later, I bought a CoC No. 3 gripper from my close friend. After working for about four months, I was able ot close CoC 3 for the first time. I was 16 years old. I made my first unsuccessful attempt at official CoC 3 certification at the age of 16.
“I watched Magnus Samuelsson close the CoC No. 4. It was very very impressive. I met CoC grippers there for the first time. I probably could have made the handles of the CoC No. 2 touch each other on my first try. I think I have a genetically strong grip.
“I try to train about every 3-4 days. Actually, I didn't have a regular training program. There were periods when I took a break from grip training for along time. But I recently tidied it up. I try to do a maximum of 5 reps in the sets I do. I take long breaks. I do my reps with a credit card set. I learned this tip from Carl Myerscough and it works well. It has made a great contribution to my closing technique. I finish my workouts with heavy negative reps.
"I actively use my hands in my boxing training at regular intervals. I think grippers greatly increase punching power and protect hand health. I also sometimes make vishuddhi art works, although not very often.
"I am a student in school and in life. I love boxing, some strength sports and aviation. In my opinion, life without sports would be unbearable. My favorite boxers are Big George Foreman, Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis. I like to listen to music. I like to read and watch space, sky and scientific content. You can rest assured that I will be officially closing CoC 3.5 very soon,” Hamza said.
