Do you have a will?  The English stood on one side of the river outnumbered two to one by the Vikings on the opposite bank.  Though the odds were against them, the English sent the invading army the following gesture of resolve: they let their horses run loose!  The message was clear: Live or die, it ends here.  We ain't moving!  Harvard professor William James calls this "the dumb turning of our will and tightening of our heartsrtings as we say, 'Yes, I will even have it so.'"  By the way, the English won that day.
