IHGF Series Set for 2017

The International Highland Games Federation (IHGF) has announced its 2017 All-American Highland Games series, a six games series around the U.S.

The IHGF is pleased to announce the 2017 IHGF All-American Highland Games series, made up of six games held across the USA, including Costa Mesa, California; Las Vegas, Nevada; Prescott, Arizona; Wichita, Kansas; Dublin, Ohio; and Pikes Peak, Colorado. Each venue in the series will host an IHGF Championships event as follows:
• Las Vegas, NV – U.S. Class A IHGF Amateur 28-lb. Weight for Distance Championships; top athlete overall qualifies for finals
• Prescott, Arizona – U.S. Class A IHGF Amateur 56-lb. Weight for Distance Championships; top athlete overall qualifies for finals
• Wichita, KS – U.S. Class A IHGF Amateur Weight-Over-Bar Championships; top two athletes overall qualify for finals
• Costa Mesa, CA – U.S. Class A IHGF Amateur Stone Putting Championships; top two athletes overall qualify for finals
• Pikes Peak, Colorado – U.S. Class A IHGF Amateur Caber Tossing Championships; top two athletes overall qualifies for finals
• Dublin, Ohio – U.S. Class A IHGF Amateur Hammer Throwing Championships; top two athletes overall qualify for finals
At each games in the series, either one or two athletes with most points accumulated in the overall competition will progress to the IHGF All-American Championships, which will be held at the Great Plains Renaissance Fair & Highland Games (Wichita, Kansas) in mid-September. From there, the overall winner of the IHGF All-American Championships will represent his country at the 2018 IHGF World Amateur Highland Games Championships in Fefor, Norway.
The IHGF would like to thank the Heart of America Scottish Athletics (HASA) in Kansas, the Scottish American Athletic Association (SAAA); Great Lakes Scottish Athletes Association (GLSAA); RMSA Rocky Mountain Scottish Athletics (RMSA); and all the games involved for working together to further the sport of Highland Games and its athletes and for promoting this IHGF series.
