Continuing it’s efforts to expand grip-strength competitions, WHEA announced Armlifting Finland, according to press release sent to IronMind.
Following is the WHEA statement:
"WHEA has registered a new supplementary name 'Suomen Otevoimaliitto - Armlifting Finland' and attached is the logo for it.
"As you can see, we wanted to honor the Rolling Thunder® in our logo as the apparatus is one of the key starters for modern day grip competitions.
"The reason for the name is, that WHEA wants to give more specified marketing for armlifting and grip sports overall. All grip competitions (sanctioned by WHEA) in Finland will use this new name as an organizer and we have also open new Facebook and Instagram pages with @armliftingfinland to promote the sport for wider audiences, along with this YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCICgCJFVkXQjCqCAygyMxnQ
"The governing actions are under WHEA, including the doping-testing, but all the grip featuring news and promotions will be done under the supplementary name.
”'We have had nice growth in other events by this sort of branding and we want to invest a little more effort in armlifting, too, as it has certain potential to grow, and we have had nicely new athletes joining for the sport lately, says WHEA Chairman Jyrki Rantanen. “WHEA has its own supplementary names for pole sport and tug-of-war in Finland also, so this is a natural extension, in line with what we do with our other sports, too.'”
