When Strongman Champions League opened for business in 2008, one of the cities on their tour was Sofia, Bulgaria, and this Saturday, June 12, they will be back, with SCL’s Marcel Mostert telling IronMind®, “It will be a battle again in a top field with athletes from all parts of the world.”
Unlike some other strongman groups that are struggling to host contests, Strongman Champions League (SCL) is already presenting its fifth contest of 2010 when they roll into Sofia, Bulgaria on June 12. IronMind® | Courtesy of SCL.
Mostert isn’t kidding—look at the start list:
1. | Johannes Arsjo | Sweden |
2. | Alex Moonen | Holland |
3. | Christian Savoie | Canada |
4. | Agris Kazelniks | Latvia |
5. | Louis McLean | Scotland |
6. | Travis Ortmayer | Texas |
7. | Terry Hollands | England |
8. | Warrick Brant | Australia |
9. | Vladimir Mitea | Romania |
10. | Ervin Katona | Serbia |
11. | Akos Nagy | Hungary |
12. | Stojan Todorchev | Bulgaria |
The events will be:
- Log Lift for maximum weight
- Wheel Flip
- Atlas Stones
- Truck Pull
- Farmer's Walk
- Yoke Race
“Will Terry Hollands take his second victory in the SCL, or maybe Travis Ortmayer? And what about the strong outsider Christian Savoie?,” Mostert asked rhetorically.
And how about a local named Stojan Todorchev, IronMind® would add.
“We will know it all in the coming two days,” Mostert.
Indeed, so stay tuned.
