Smorchkov Surprises The 105s

(Antalya, Turkey) The 105-kg category at the World Weightlifting Championships was packed with talent.

Maybe that's why Vladimir Smorchkov (RUS) got put in the B-session, where he set a new world record in the snatch with a lift of 198.0 kg.

As A-session lifters started to rack up misses, it was looking like Smorchkov might even walk away with the gold in the total, and that's exactly what happened.  Smorchkov finished the day with 422.5 and Bunyami Sudas (TUR) was on his heels with 420, followed by Igor Razoryonov (UKR) at 417.5 kg.
