Michael Nackoul Leads Team USA at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships

As the United States celebrates Independence Day, MIT student Michael Nackoul took 7th place in the 85-kg class at the Junior World Championships in Penang, Malaysia today—Team USA’s top performance so far in this competition.
More than a battle among the planet’s best 20-and-under weightlifters, the Junior World Weightlifting Championships give a preview of who is coming down the road in the sport: these are the lifters to watch over the next several years, when they will hit their peak performances.
Nackoul snatched 141 kg, cleaned and jerked 186 kg and totaled 327 kg.
