Last Sunday, professional strongman Laurence Shahlaei broke the British log lift record with a 190-kg success.

Downplaying his own success, Shahlaei told IronMind, “The most impressive lift of the day for me was in the under 90-kg class where James Ward lifted 150 kg.”
A World’s Strongest Man finalist, Shahlaei gained the sponsorship needed to train full time this year, positioning him for his best-ever WSM finish and as he plans for the showdown in September, he has to cope with the physical trauma that is a part of the strongman’s daily life.
“I have a strange injury on my left foot (it’s fine doing static movements but painful to move), but have been getting a lot of treatment so will be 100% for World’s Strongest Man,” Shahlaei said.
