This year's IHGF All-American Amateur Highland Games Championships is a qualifier for the IHGF Amateur Highland Games World Championships, and will take place at the McPherson Scottish Festival and Highland Games in McPherson, Kansas, on 26-27 September 2015, IHGF president Francis Brebner told IronMind today.
“Ten top amateur American athletes will compete in eight traditional Highland Games throwing events, and the winner will go forward to represent his country in the IHGF Amateur Highland Games World Championships, to be held in Fefor, Norway in 2016,” said Brebner.
“From there, the winner of the IHGF Amateur Worlds will earn a place at the 2017 IHGF Pro Highland Games World Championships. All those interested in a spot on the All-American Championships roster, please contact Francis Brebner no later than 1 August 2015, at which time the top ten athletes will be selected for the games.
With its rich history, the MacPherson, Kansas Highland Games is being thrust on center stage as the world’s best amateur Highland Games competitors will vie for invitations to the 2016 IHGF Amateur Highland Games World Championships.
