IHGF Announces Amateur Women’s Heavy Events World Championships

Jon McKenzie, Athletic Director for Spokane Highland Games, has decided to add the women’s IHGF World Amateur Heavy Events Championships to the IHGF men’s amateur world title already on his program for 2011, IHGF vice president Francis Brebner told IronMind.
“McKenzie, who comes from a very proud Scottish family which has been a major influence in his day-to-day life and long term aspirations, has a very strong passion for the Scottish traditions,” Brebner said.
“I want the Spokane Highland Games to be on the map when talking about Highland Games,” McKenzie told Brebner. “I believe we are taking a step in the right direction and in doing so, we are building up the Spokane Highland Games to be one of the best on the games circuit.”
“The overall champion of the men’s 2011 IHGF World Amateur Heavy Events Championships will have earned their professional status and also secured themselve’s a guaranteed place in the professional IHGF World Heavy Events Championships for 2012 with all expenses paid,” Brebner said.
“For the overall winner of the woman’s 2011 IHGF World Amateur Heavy Events Championships, they will also have earned their professional status and will have earned themselve’s a place in the Woman’s Professional World Championships for 2012 which are run and organized by the Athletic Director of the Arizona Highland games, Ryan Seckman, and this will include all travel expenses to be paid by the IHGF.”
