Former professional wrestler Gary Tyler Stuart has been certified on the IronMind Red Nail, proving that he’s a steel bender to be reckoned with.

Reporting from Chris Rice’s 2018 Gripmas competition, referee Nate Brous, Red Nail ’13 told IronMind, “Gary Stuart bent all THREE red nails in the allowed minute. A very impressive performance.”

Stuart told IronMind that he’s been bending steel for about 6 years, having gotten started by Anson Castelvecchi, Red Nail ’05.

“[I’ve] always been into strength training, was a pro-wrestler for 16 years, now trying Brazilian Jui-Jitsu, too,” said Stuart. “I’m 34 years old, 6’ 1”, about 320 lb., from Charlottte, North Carolina.

“At first, I could only bend small nails, but steadily progressed up to the Red Nail. I plan on continuing grip training, strongman training, and continue bending with the ultimate goal of  bending the Gold Nail.  I want to focus on losing more body fat while building muscle and becoming as strong as I can naturally.

“I manage a warehouse where I move heavy custom items so my grip and strength are very important. In my personal time I enjoy training with the Charlotte Pick-Up Artists and spending time with my family, who also train with me some. I train a wide variety of disciplines to push and challenge myself and progress in many different areas and so I don’t get bored.”

Congratulations, Gary—you have been certified on the Red Nail and you name added to the Red Nail Roster—and many thanks to Nate Brous for refereeing Gary’s official attempt to bend a Red Nail.
