2012 ASC Masters’ America’s Strongest Man

If you want a sense of history, Chad Coy mentioned to me today, “Crazy—it was close to 20 years ago that we started talking! . . . I am still in the game a bit . . .,” and that bit is more than a small bite because Chad Coy is one of the guys who will be chasing the 2012 ASC Masters’ America’s Strongest Man title in Kokomo, Indiana on June 30.

Ohana Hotels Medley Race" at Odd Haugen’s 2000 Beauty and the Beast Strongman competition, a top drawer strongman contest that also featured the inaugural Rolling Thunder® World Championships (with a field that included three World’s Strongest Man winners, plus another one watching). Presented by Dr. Don Peters, the contest will have six events:

• Log Press Medley
• Farmer’s Walk
• Yoke Race
• Train Wheel Deadlift
• Conan’s Wheel
• Loading Medley

The official press release noted, “To qualify for the Masters division of the American Strongman Corporation one must hold a Pro card in either the 231 class or the open heavy weight division and be 40 years of age.

Kokomo has always been a major player in the world of US strength athletics. The first sanctioned event in Kokomo started in 1994. The Central USA Strongman Challenge, Indiana Strongest Man, The American Hercules, The Back Alley Challenge, 2001 America’s Strongest Man, and now the Masters are all proud to be a part of strength athletics in the USA and of Kokomo.

Kokomo has not only been the location of some of the finest shows in the history of the sport, but also the training place of 9 of the 10 of Indiana’s Pro Strongmen.

If you like excitement come down and watch the best strongmen in America battle it out for the title of Masters America’s Strongest Man.”
