Speaking of the starting field for his upcoming United Strongman Women’s World Championships, Jyrki Rantanen told IronMind, “We have some 85% of the world´s well known strength countries represented in the battle.”

Here are the specifics, as officially released:

USA: Winner from America´s Strongest Woman 2012 (early November)
Iceland: Winner from Iceland´s Strongest Woman 2012 (early November)
Australia: Australia´s Strongwoman Nationals winner 2012, Elena Naumcevski
Norway: Norway´s Strongest Woman 2012, Kikki Berli-Johnsen
England: Britain´s Strongest Woman 2012, Rebecca Etchells
Ireland: Britain´s Strongest Woman 2011, Siobhan Hyland
Sweden: Sweden´s Strongest Woman 2012, Anna Rosen
Sweden: Winner of 2012 Ockelbo Showlifting Qualifier, Emilie Bäcklund
Finland: Finland´s Strongest Woman 2012, Niina Jumppanen
Finland: Finland´s Strongest Woman 2012, second place, Alina Leisiö
Finland: Finland´s Strongest Woman 2012 fourth place, Annina Saine

“So, all fresh champions are in and other than our member/supporter countries have been offered two different qualifications (Britain's/Sweden) where anyone has been able to attempt the spot to join the party.  This is the way to fight about world championships—no wild cards, no personal invitations etc.; just direct qualifiers.

“Referees?  Myself and WSM 2000 Janne Virtanen will be doing some refereeing, but guess who are the main referees for Women´s World Championships?   Multi-time Finnish champions and WSW runner-ups Kati Luoto and Heini Koivuniemi.  United Strongman feels that in world-level contests we have to respect the people who have been actually winning the titles and who have been making the event famous,” said Rantanen.
