“Iceland´s Strongest Women 2011 competition was held as a last event in Icelandic Fitness Expo in Reykjavik,” Jyrki Rantanen reported to IronMind.

“The promotor, Gemma Magnusson, had organized a competition, which went through fast and introduced also something new like a full line-up for the finalists doing the forward hold at the same time.

“After logs for reps, (sack carry, loading and drag medley, forward hold, and the deadlift, there was one over others: Bryndís Ólafsdóttir controlled the whole competition, winning three out of the five events with very powerful and explosive performances.

“After the first two events, the field of competitors was cut down to to 8, but just to support different kinds of competitors I would like to raise up this young first timer, Lilja Rut Jónasdóttir, who showed some great attitude when fighting with over 1.5 times higher weights than her body weight of 56 kg.

“Some really good results were performed during the competition—for example, huge reps with the 60-kg log and 200-kg partial deadlift without a powerlifting suit—which is very much recommended for ladies’ competitions,” said Rantanen.
