With the 1999 edition of the "Beauty & the Beast" competition just concluded, promoter-competitior Odd Haugen said that next year's event will also be held in early June. Haugen, at a mere 49 years of age, placed third in the IFSA American Championships, which were part of the overall competition. Haugen, who was very popular with both the fans and his fellow competitors, said he felt "privileged to have had the opportunity to compete against every one of these fine strength athletes." Before next year's event, Haugen said he hopes "to compete in a couple of strongman contests without the added distraction of being the promoter."
